获胜 is a formal verb meaning to win or triumph, used in competitive contexts from sports to elections to legal proceedings. It is more formal than 赢 (to win) and is preferred in written and official language: 在选举中获胜 (to win an election), 以微弱优势获胜 (to win by a narrow margin). The opposite is 落败 or 失败. 获胜方 means 'the winning party/side'.
