Meaning
State of affairs; situation; the way things stand. The current condition or development of a situation, especially one that is evolving or serious.
Typically used when describing ongoing situations that have developed to a notable or concerning degree. Appears in news reporting, official statements, and crisis analysis. Common collocations: 事态发展 (development of the situation), 事态严峻 (the situation is grave), 控制事态 (control the situation), 事态恶化 (the situation deteriorates).
