Meaning
Benevolent; merciful; showing genuine kindness and compassion towards others.
Rooted in Confucian ethics, 仁 (benevolence) is one of the cardinal virtues. Used to describe morally admirable individuals, leaders, or deities. Distinguished from 慈善 (charitable) which emphasises giving, and 善良 (kind) which is more general.
