光环
Meaning
Halo; aura; nimbus. Literally, the ring of light around a luminous body. Figuratively, the prestigious aura surrounding a person, institution, or achievement.
In Chinese public discourse, 光环 is most commonly used figuratively — the prestige halo of a famous university (名校光环), the celebrity aura of a star (明星光环), or the glow of past glory. The phrase 光环效应 (halo effect) appears in psychology and management. 光环退去 (halo fades) describes declining prestige.
