怪物
Meaning
Monster; creature; a strange or frightening being. Also used colloquially to describe a person with extraordinary, almost superhuman abilities.
In traditional and fictional contexts, 怪物 refers to supernatural monsters or terrifying creatures. In modern colloquial Chinese — especially in gaming and sports — it has extended to describe extraordinary individuals whose talent seems barely human. Calling someone a 怪物 in this context is a strong compliment, similar to English 'beast' or 'freak of nature.'
