Introduction

This chapter covers the first half of Y-initial words — the most common pinyin initial in Chinese. It includes everyday expressions, business and work terms, clothing vocabulary, and sports and recreation.

Y-words are high-frequency and appear constantly in both spoken and written Chinese.
