Steal someone's thunder
Meaning: To take credit for someone else's idea or to overshadow their moment.
Used when someone upstages another person, whether intentionally or accidentally. Proposing at someone else's wedding, announcing your own news during a friend's celebration, or presenting someone else's idea as your own — all count as stealing thunder.
