Raise the bar
Meaning: To set a higher standard of quality or performance.
Used when someone or something establishes a new, higher standard that others must now try to match. Very common in business, sports, and technology. It implies progress and increased expectations — once the bar is raised, going back to the old standard feels inadequate.
