sublimation
含义: In psychology, the channelling of unacceptable impulses or emotions into socially acceptable activities; in chemistry, the direct transition of a substance from solid to gas without passing through the liquid state.
In Freudian psychology, sublimation is considered a mature defence mechanism — for example, channelling aggression into competitive sport. It is regarded as one of the healthiest ways of managing difficult emotions. In chemistry and physics, the classic example is dry ice (solid carbon dioxide) sublimating into gas at room temperature.
