resonance
含义: The quality in a sound of being deep, full, and reverberating; in physics, the amplification of vibrations when a system is driven at its natural frequency; figuratively, the ability to evoke emotions or associations.
Resonance in physics can be constructive (useful, as in musical instruments) or destructive (dangerous, as when a bridge vibrates at its natural frequency). In MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), nuclear magnetic resonance is used to create detailed images of the body. The figurative use is widespread: an argument, story, or idea 'resonates' when it strikes an emotional chord with its audience.
