prevalence
含义: The proportion of a population found to have a particular condition at a specific time; more broadly, the fact or condition of being widespread or common.
In epidemiology, prevalence differs from incidence: prevalence measures how many people currently have a condition, whilst incidence measures how many new cases occur over a period. High prevalence of a disease indicates a significant public health burden. Outside medicine, the word describes how common or widespread something is, as in 'the prevalence of social media use among teenagers.'
