inflammation
含义: A localised physical condition in which part of the body becomes reddened, swollen, hot, and often painful, as a response to injury or infection.
Inflammation is the body's natural immune response to harmful stimuli. Acute inflammation is a short-term protective response, whilst chronic inflammation can contribute to diseases such as arthritis, heart disease, and cancer. The adjective 'inflammatory' has both medical and figurative uses — inflammatory remarks are those intended to provoke anger. Anti-inflammatory drugs reduce inflammation.
