elasticity
The ability of a material to return to its original shape after deformation, or in economics, the degree to which demand or supply responds to changes in price or other variables.
In physics, elasticity is measured by Young's modulus and related quantities. In economics, price elasticity of demand is a fundamental concept: goods with high elasticity see large demand changes when prices shift, while inelastic goods (such as petrol or medicines) see little change. The term has also entered computing, where 'elastic' infrastructure scales automatically with demand.
例句

- The price elasticity of demand for luxury goods tends to be considerably higher than for staple foodstuffs.
- Cloud computing platforms offer elasticity, automatically provisioning additional servers during traffic spikes.
