"Applications must be submitted by Friday（申请必须在周五前提交）"比"You must submit applications by Friday"听起来更正式。这类句式在正式写作、规章制度和操作说明中特别常见。
中文里"必须被提交""可以被修改"这类表达虽然存在，但远不如英语用得频繁。在英语的职场和学术环境中，情态被动句几乎无处不在——掌握它对专业英语来说至关重要。
