Wipeout
含义: Falling off a surfboard, and more broadly, any spectacular failure or crash.
In surf culture, a wipeout is when a surfer falls off the board, often dramatically. The term has expanded beyond surfing to mean any kind of failure, crash, or disaster. 'That presentation was a total wipeout' works just as well as 'I had a gnarly wipeout at Pipeline.' It's one of many surf terms that California has exported to mainstream English.
