Meaning: An area of land under the control of a particular country or person
Territory refers to an area of land that belongs to or is controlled by a country, state, or ruler. It can also describe an area that an animal defends as its own, or figuratively, a subject area or field of expertise. 'Uncharted territory' means an unfamiliar area or situation. Sales representatives often have assigned territories.
