Meaning: A greater liking for one thing over another; what someone prefers
Preference expresses what someone likes better or would choose given options. 'Have a preference for' means to prefer something. 'Personal preference' acknowledges individual taste. In business, 'preferential treatment' means special advantages given to some customers. Computer settings are often called 'preferences.'
