Meaning: All the inhabitants of a particular place; the total number of people
'Population' refers to all the people living in a country, city, or area, or the total number of such inhabitants. It can also refer to a particular group within an area ('the prison population', 'the student population'). In statistics, 'population' means all members of a defined group being studied.
