Meaning: A substance that flows freely like water; not solid or gas
Liquid refers to one of the three states of matter (along with solid and gas), in which a substance flows freely but maintains a fixed volume. As an adjective, it describes anything in this state or with fluid qualities. In finance, 'liquid assets' are those that can be quickly converted to cash. A 'liquid diet' consists only of drinks.
