Meaning: Favouring traditional values and resisting change; cautious or moderate
Conservative describes someone or something that prefers established traditions and is resistant to change. In politics, it refers to right-wing ideology favouring limited government and traditional social values. Outside politics, it can mean cautious or moderate (a 'conservative estimate'). In the UK, the Conservative Party is one of the major political parties.
