Meaning: A period of rapid economic growth; a deep, resonant sound; to make such a sound
Boom has multiple meanings: a period of rapid economic growth or success (property boom, baby boom); a deep, loud sound (sonic boom); and as a verb, to make a deep sound or to prosper rapidly. 'Boom and bust' describes economic cycles. 'Boom' is also the horizontal pole on a sailing boat or a microphone arm.
