abstract
Meaning: Existing in thought or as an idea; not concrete
Abstract describes something that exists as an idea rather than a physical thing, or art that does not attempt to represent reality accurately. 'Abstract thinking' involves concepts rather than concrete objects. An 'abstract' is also a summary of an academic paper. The opposite is concrete or tangible.
