terabyte
Meaning: A unit of digital information storage equal to approximately one trillion bytes (1,000 gigabytes), commonly used to describe the capacity of hard drives, cloud storage, and data transfer volumes.
The terabyte (TB) has become a familiar unit as consumer storage devices routinely offer one to several terabytes. In enterprise computing, data centres manage petabytes or exabytes, but the terabyte remains the standard reference point for personal and small business storage. Strictly, one terabyte equals 10^12 bytes (1,000,000,000,000), while the binary equivalent (2^40 bytes) is properly called a tebibyte.
