subsidiary
Meaning: A company controlled by a larger parent company; as an adjective, less important than but related to something else.
A subsidiary is a legally separate entity in which the parent company owns a controlling interest (typically more than 50% of shares). Subsidiaries allow parent companies to operate in different markets, manage risk, and comply with local regulations. As an adjective, subsidiary means secondary or supplementary.
