Meaning: A revival of interest in or a period of renewed activity in something; when capitalised, the great cultural and artistic movement that began in Italy in the 14th century and spread across Europe.
The Renaissance (capital R) marked a profound shift in European art, science, and philosophy, drawing inspiration from classical Greek and Roman civilisation.
