pollination
Meaning: The transfer of pollen from the male part of a flower to the female part, enabling fertilisation and the production of seeds.
Pollination can occur through insects (entomophily), wind (anemophily), birds, bats, or water. The decline of pollinator populations, especially bees, has become a major environmental concern. 'Cross-pollination' also has figurative uses for the mixing of ideas between fields. It collocates with 'insect,' 'wind,' 'cross-,' and 'self-.'
