paradigm
Meaning: A typical example, pattern, or model of something; a framework of concepts and assumptions that shapes how a discipline understands the world.
Popularised by Thomas Kuhn's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions (1962), paradigm is now widely used to describe dominant frameworks of thinking. A 'paradigm shift' refers to a fundamental change in approach or underlying assumptions. The word appears frequently in academic, business, and media contexts, sometimes criticised as overused jargon.
