monoculture
Meaning: The cultivation of a single crop in a given area, or more broadly, a culture or system dominated by a single element.
Agricultural monoculture can maximise short-term yields but depletes soil nutrients, increases vulnerability to pests, and reduces biodiversity. The term is also used figuratively to criticise homogeneity in society or business, such as a cultural monoculture where diverse perspectives are lacking.
