mediation
Meaning: Intervention in a dispute by a neutral third party in order to bring about agreement or reconciliation between the opposing sides.
Mediation is a form of alternative dispute resolution in which a trained mediator facilitates negotiation between parties who cannot reach agreement on their own. Unlike arbitration, the mediator does not impose a binding decision. It is used in family law, employment disputes, international conflicts, and community disputes. Common collocations include 'offer mediation,' 'through mediation,' 'mediation services,' and 'enter into mediation.'
