Meaning: The branch of medicine concerned with the study, diagnosis, and treatment of blood disorders and diseases of the blood-forming organs.
Haematologists deal with conditions such as anaemia, leukaemia, lymphoma, haemophilia, and blood clotting disorders. The speciality also encompasses blood transfusion services and bone marrow transplants. Note the British spelling with 'ae' — American English uses 'hematology.'
