debtor
Meaning: A person, company, or institution that owes money to a creditor.
Debtor is the natural counterpart to creditor and pervades legal, financial, and commercial language. In British insolvency law, a debtor who cannot pay their debts may be made bankrupt (if an individual) or placed into liquidation (if a company).
