vindicate
의미: To clear someone of blame or suspicion; to prove that a person, decision, or course of action was right or justified.
Vindicate has two closely related senses: clearing someone's reputation and proving something correct. In legal and political contexts, it often appears when a controversial decision is later shown to have been right: 'the verdict vindicated his stance.' The passive form 'vindicated' is particularly common. It should not be confused with 'vindictive' (seeking revenge), which has a different tone entirely. Common collocations include 'feel vindicated,' 'fully vindicated,' 'vindicate a decision,' and 'vindicated by events.'
