radiotherapy
의미: The treatment of cancer and other diseases using controlled doses of radiation to damage or destroy abnormal cells.
Radiotherapy (called 'radiation therapy' in American English) uses high-energy beams, usually X-rays or protons, to target and kill cancer cells. It can be delivered externally (a machine directs beams at the tumour) or internally (radioactive material placed inside the body near the cancer). Modern techniques such as intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) allow more precise targeting, minimising damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
