prototypical
의미: Serving as the original or most typical example of something; embodying the essential characteristics of a category.
Prototypical is more technical than 'quintessential' and is widely used in linguistics, psychology, and the social sciences. In cognitive science, a 'prototypical' member of a category is the one that most readily comes to mind — a robin is a prototypical bird, a penguin is not. Outside academia, the word functions similarly to 'archetypal' but with a slightly more analytical, less literary flavour. 'A prototypical example,' 'the prototypical case,' and 'prototypical features' are standard collocations.
