proton
의미: A stable subatomic particle found in the nucleus of all atoms, carrying a positive electric charge equal in magnitude to the negative charge of an electron.
The number of protons in the nucleus defines which element an atom belongs to — this is called the atomic number. Hydrogen, the simplest element, has just one proton. Proton therapy is an advanced form of radiation treatment for cancer that uses beams of protons to target tumours with great precision. The Large Hadron Collider at CERN accelerates protons to near the speed of light.
