prejudice
의미: A preconceived opinion or attitude towards a person or group that is not based on reason or actual experience; bias or hostility directed at someone because of their membership of a particular group.
Prejudice is an attitude or belief, whereas discrimination is the behaviour that results from it. Social psychologists distinguish between explicit prejudice (conscious and openly expressed) and implicit prejudice (unconscious biases that affect behaviour without awareness). In law, 'without prejudice' means without detriment to existing rights or claims — a completely separate usage. Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' explored social prejudice in Regency England.
