excavate
의미: To dig out material from the ground, or to make a hole or channel by digging. In archaeology, to carefully unearth buried remains or artefacts.
Excavation is the first major stage of most construction projects, involving the removal of earth to create foundations, basements, or trenches. In archaeology, excavation is a meticulous, systematic process of uncovering historical remains layer by layer. The machine used for digging is an excavator (commonly called a digger in British English). The noun 'excavation' refers both to the process and to the resulting hole or site.
