소개

제2조건문과 제3조건문은 영어의 '가정의 세계'로 들어가는 문이에요. 제2조건문은 현재나 미래의 비현실적인 상황을 상상하고, 제3조건문은 과거가 달랐다면 어땠을지 돌아봐요.

이 조건문들은 소망, 후회, 추측을 표현할 때 필수예요. 일상 대화에서 "만약 ~였다면"을 이야기할 때 끊임없이 사용돼요.

한국어에서는 "~였다면", "~였으면"으로 다양한 가정을 표현하지만, 영어는 가정의 시간대에 따라 동사 시제가 바뀌어요. 제2조건문은 과거 시제로 현재 가정을, 제3조건문은 과거완료로 과거 가정을 나타내요. 이 구조를 마스터하면 "만약에"의 세계를 정확하고 섬세하게 표현할 수 있어요.
