Mixed conditionals and wish structures

소개

혼합 가정법은 하나의 문장에서 서로 다른 시간대를 결합해서, 과거와 현재의 복잡한 관계를 표현할 수 있어요. "If I had studied medicine, I would be a doctor now."(의대를 갔었더라면, 지금쯤 의사였을 텐데.)

"wish"와 "if only" 구조는 과거, 현재, 미래에 대한 바람을 표현하는데, 각각 고유한 문법이 있어요. 후회, 좌절, 간절한 바람을 표현하는 데 꼭 필요한 표현이에요.

한국어의 "~했으면 좋았을 텐데", "~이면 좋겠다"와 비슷하지만, 영어는 시제 조합으로 뉘앙스를 더 세밀하게 구분해요. 이 고급 가정법을 마스터하면, 시간을 넘나드는 가정적인 생각을 자유자재로 표현할 수 있게 돼요.
