Double major
의미: Completing two different majors simultaneously for a single bachelor's degree.
A double major is the overachiever's flex. 'I am double-majoring in economics and computer science' means you are doing the work of two full academic programs. It requires careful course planning, more credits, and possibly extra semesters. Some combinations are strategic (business + engineering); others are passion-driven (art + biology). 'That is a lot' is the standard response. Double majors can be impressive on a resume but exhausting in practice. Triple majors exist but are legendary.

기원과 역사
Made possible by the American credit-hour system and elective curriculum structure, double majoring became increasingly popular in the 1980s-90s as the job market grew more competitive. A 2015 study found that roughly 25% of American bachelor's degree holders had completed a double major. The practice is enabled by the relatively high credit-hour requirement (120+) at American universities, giving students room to fulfill two sets of major requirements — a flexibility rarely available in European or Asian university systems.
