起源と歴史
From Middle English, a compound of 'all' + 'though', where 'all' intensified the concessive meaning — literally 'even though entirely'. 'Though' itself comes from Old Norse 'þó'. The 'al-' prefix was added around the 14th century to strengthen the contrast.
