zealot
意味: A person who is fanatically and uncompromisingly devoted to a cause, ideology, or belief, often to the point of intolerance.
Zealot is almost always pejorative in modern usage, implying excessive fervour and an unwillingness to consider alternative viewpoints. It is stronger than 'enthusiast' and more politically charged than 'fanatic.' Journalists frequently deploy it against ideologues of all stripes: religious zealots, Brexit zealots, free-market zealots. Historically, the Zealots were a Jewish political movement resisting Roman rule.
