segregation
意味: The enforced or systematic separation of people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or other characteristics, typically resulting in unequal treatment and access to resources.
Segregation is most strongly associated with racial segregation in the United States and apartheid in South Africa, but the concept applies more broadly. In Britain, residential segregation — where communities of different ethnicities live in separate areas — is a topic of ongoing social research. The term can also refer to the separation of waste for recycling or the separation of duties in financial controls. 'Desegregation' refers to the process of ending segregation.
