runoff
意味: The draining away of water or other substances from the surface of an area, especially excess rainfall that flows over land into streams, rivers, or drains.
Agricultural runoff carrying fertilisers and pesticides is a major source of water pollution. Urban runoff from roads and buildings can carry oil, heavy metals, and other contaminants into waterways. The term also has a political meaning — a runoff election is a second round of voting when no candidate achieves a majority in the first round.
