respiration
意味: The process of breathing; also the set of metabolic reactions in cells that convert biochemical energy from nutrients into ATP.
Respiration has two related but distinct meanings. External respiration is the physical act of breathing — inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide. Cellular respiration is the biochemical process in mitochondria that releases energy from glucose. Both aerobic (with oxygen) and anaerobic (without oxygen) respiration exist. It collocates with 'aerobic,' 'anaerobic,' 'cellular,' and 'rate.'
例文
