naturalise
意味: To grant citizenship to a foreign national, or to introduce a plant or animal species so that it establishes itself in a new environment.
Naturalise has two distinct senses. In law, it means conferring the rights and privileges of citizenship on a foreign-born person — 'naturalised citizen,' 'apply for naturalisation,' and 'naturalised British subject' are standard collocations. In ecology and horticulture, it describes species that have been introduced to a new habitat and now grow or live there without human intervention. Naturalised daffodils in woodland or naturalised grey squirrels in Britain are common examples.
