monarch
意味: A sovereign ruler, especially a king, queen, emperor, or empress, who reigns over a kingdom or empire.
The term is central to British political and cultural life, given the United Kingdom's constitutional monarchy. Monarchs may hold absolute power (as in historical absolute monarchies) or serve a largely ceremonial role (as in modern constitutional monarchies). The word also has a zoological meaning, referring to the monarch butterfly, one of the best-known migratory insects.
