iconoclast
意味: A person who challenges or attacks widely accepted beliefs, institutions, or traditions; someone who deliberately overturns established conventions.
Iconoclast is almost always used positively or neutrally in modern English, carrying connotations of bold, independent thinking. It is a favourite word in profiles of innovators, artists, and political mavericks. The original religious sense — someone who destroys religious images — survives in historical writing. An iconoclast is distinguished from a mere rebel by having intellectual substance behind their challenge to orthodoxy.
