facet
意味: One particular aspect or side of something complex; in gemology, one of the flat surfaces cut into a gemstone.
Facet is overwhelmingly used in its figurative sense to describe one dimension of a multifaceted subject. A problem has many facets; a person's character reveals different facets in different settings; a policy has economic, social, and environmental facets. The metaphor of the cut gemstone — each facet reflecting light differently — is implicit. The adjective 'multifaceted' (having many aspects) is a common derivative. The word is standard in academic, journalistic, and professional writing.
