diction
意味: The choice and use of words in speech or writing, or the clarity and distinctness with which a person speaks.
Diction operates in two related but distinct senses. In literary criticism, it refers to an author's word choice — formal diction, elevated diction, colloquial diction. In performance and speech contexts, it means clarity of pronunciation — an actor with impeccable diction. Both senses are about precision with language, but the first concerns selection and the second concerns delivery. The literary sense predominates in academic writing.
